Who is the fastest CPA in the state??

With their own race category, the CPAs had an impressive showing with over 100 CPAs registered to race. The following CPAs now have bragging rights as the fastest in the state!

Fellow CPA Steven Werble won the 5K male division with a time of 20 minutes and 45 seconds, and Maureen Moztarzadeh finished 1st with a time of 26 minutes, 59 seconds for the women. In the 10K CPA group, Mitch Cutler (1040K Race Committee member) scorched the field with at time of 42 minutes and 20 seconds and Bettina Rodarte won the 10K women’s division with a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 22 seconds.

Congratulations to the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche, LLP for winning the Corporate Team Award with 29 registrants in either the 5K or 10K race.

What is the Jock Tax? Professional athletes have one of the most complex tax returns because they are required to pay income taxes in every state and city that levies them where they earned a salary during away games. The "jock tax" enforcement began with California taxing Michael Jordan when the Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1991 NBA Finals. Athletes are generally going to have the attention focused on them because all of the information is so readily available and public information, taxing authorities can go to the team's Web site and see who played in what games and where the games were played.
